Buy to let landlords demand mortgage payment holiday

The National Landlord’s Association have appealed for the two-year mortgage payment holiday to also include buy to let mortgage holders.

The sector has felt the hit of the credit crunch, despite traditionally performing well in periods of recession.

The NLA said that by giving buy to let landlords more time to get up to date with their payments, they will be able to relieve pressure on their tenants as well, preventing repossessions and evictions.

This is only fair, especially if letting is effectively a business.

The data is so mixed on buy-to-let I don’t know what to think. It may well be that landlords do much better in the next few months - people still have to live somewhere.

I don’t know… one of the reasons house prices are so high is the number of people who own second homes. Purging some of these would allow first-time buyers a better chance.
