Buy-to-let mortgage holders want female tenants, research says

In a poll of 1,000 landlords, many with buy-to-let mortgages, it was revealed that the optimum tenant is female.

Landlords were specific in their preferences, stating that the ideal tenant would also be aged between 36 and 45, earning between £20,000 and £30,000, and working in the health sector.

25% of landlords would prefer a tenant from London over tenants from elsewhere.

Interesting fact… So much for equal opportunities. I wonder why they don’t want a high-earning tenant.

I can see the attraction of that if you’re looking for a stable resident who will pay the bills. But I’m sure there’s probably a law against discriminating somewhere or other…
